Choosing Between Different Bowflex Ultimate Models

There’s no denying the quality of the Bowflex Sltimate. As far as home gyms are concerned, it’s one of the best around for its price. But which one do you go with, considering there are four different models on the market? That’s a good question, and one that we will attempt to answer in this article.

Let’s start with the XTLU model. It features 90 different exercises you can perform for increasing your muscle strength and endurance. By having the option to customize a workout by choosing from the 90 different exercises, you improve your chances of getting the most out of your workout. However, many people end up only using a small variety of different exercises, so you could argue that 90 exercises is a bit superfluous.

It really depends on what you want to get out of your Bowflex Ultimate, as well as the amount of money you have to invest for a home gym. For some, it’s overkill. For others, it is the perfect answer. Your answer will depend on your commitment to your fitness.

The next model is the Bowflex XLU. This is more affordable than the Bowflex XTLU, but has more limitations. As far as exercises go though, it still has 85 different exercises you can perform. The difference is pretty much negligible in this area. Basically what you don’t get with the XLU is the leg curl attachment. For some, this is not a big deal. For others, they find that having this attachment is essential.

The third model is the Bowflex XTU. It has the leg curl attachment, but other than that it is pretty basic. It does not come with a lat attachment like the above two models do. However, this is not a problem for those who also have free weights or a pull up bar already in their home gym. For them, perhaps the best option would be to go with the XTU.

Finally, there is the basic Bowflex Ultimate model. It is the least expensive, but is also the most limiting. Besides not having a lat pull down attachment, it also does not have a leg curl attachment and only offers a fraction of the total number of exercises as the XTLU model.Don’t get me wrong — it’s good for a workout, but not for developing that muscle tone that most people who lift weights desire to develop.
